Vintage and collectible Matryoshka dolls from the 1960's-1990's can be found here. These include, at any given time, dolls from Moldova, Yoscar (Yoshkar) Ola, Belarus and Ukraine, Poland, Mari El Republic, Perm, Vladimir and the Moscow region and even the occasional Japanese Kokeshi. After all, it was Japanese craftspeople  that first inspired Russian painters and woodworker to make the matryoshka synonymous with their arts and crafts.

Mushroom Picking Vintage Matryoshka. An unusual 4 piece matryoshka. The motif is a girl wearing an orange kerchief and red sarafan carrying a basket and picking mushrooms. It's exact origin is a bit of a mystery, but the most common information for it seems to indicate it came from the Kovrov Toy Factory in Vladimir. The doll was made sometime in the late 1970s, or a bit earlier. It's not common by any means, in our experience.
