On March 4, 1999, Mikhail Gorbachev, former President of the Soviet Union, was at Benedictine University, here in Lisle, Illinois, to speak about world peace. I was asked to accompany his wife, Mdm. Raisa Gorbachev, as an interpreter and guide during their visit. It was an honour and a thrill for me. I found her to be a very pleasant, mild mannered woman with an unmistakable Russian soul. ~Masha
