The original version! The Might Bogatyr (which means Medieval Warrior) stands guard and ready to battle together with smaller companions. Notable bogatyrs fought by Alexander Nevsky's side and at the Battle of Kulikovo against the Tatars in 1380.
The first doll is decked with an actual club and shield. Each of the four have a pointed red helmet. The painting is quite detailed. This is the classic style that dates back to the early 1960s. Ours has an orange "Made in the USSR" label and was made in the mid-1980s. Due to the painstaking labor involved, this style with all the detailing has been discontinued. Newer styles have the club and shield merely painted on the first doll.
