Russian filigree boxes were made by hand and not a machine. This elegant hinged treasure chest is an outstanding example of filigree design and craftmanship as perfected during the days of Catherine the Great. The lock is a tiny slide bolt attached to a chain. The box has five roundels - one on each side and one on the top. The pattern is reminiscent of bobbin-lace, decorated throughout with tiny seed pearls and dipped in near pure (99.9%) silver. Hand-crafted in Kazakavo, near Nihzny Novgorod (formerly the city of Gorky). 2"x2"x2". Comes in its own (retro Soviet-style) custom-fitted box.
A beautiful compliment to our Petrograd silver filigree teaglass holder.
