Druzhina Slavutich (Дружина Славутич).  A medieval boat (Ладья) carries the brave troops by the name of "Slavutich". Slavutich means son of Slavuta and Slavuta is an ancient poetic name for the Dnieper river. Each knight carries an elaborately painted shield and each wear gold helmets. The sea rages below the ship but the squad holds steadfast. Designed in the 1960s by V. I. Shcherbina. Kiev Experimental Ceramics and Art Factory (Киевский экспериментальный керамико-художественный завод). Excellent condition, 4½" in height. 

The Kiev Experimental Art Ceramics Factory was founded in 1924 on the basis of a small workshop, which manufactured ceramic paints and decals. After World War II the enterprise was expanded to manufacture decorative articles and eventually a large art workshop which became one of the best in the USSR.
