He also was Lieutenant General of the Russian army when the revolution broke out in 1917 and one of the leaders of the counterrevolutionary White movement. While in exile, he began writing adventure novels, this one being full of perilous journeys to remote and unexplored places, searching for gold and being chased, gunfights and, of course, romantic love.
