Leo Tolstoy (Rosemary Edmonds translation). Anna Karenin. Penguin Classics, 1960. 3rd printing, 864 pages. Solidly bound copy with light external wear, crisp pages that have tanned and clean text. Overall very good.
Leo Tolstoy (1828-1910), arguably one of Russia's two greatest authors, wrote this great novel in 1877.
Rosemary Edmonds (1905–1998) was a British translator of Russian literature, with Tolstoy being her specialty. Her version first appeared in 1954. During World War II she was translator to General de Gaulle at Fighting France Headquarters in London.
