Wood Plates from Poland and elsewhere

The Zakopane Style was the first Polish national style, and is practiced, not only in Zakopane – the capital of the Tatra Mountain region – but also in many other places in Poland. The style emphasizes architecture, in particular the highlander hut (chatka góralska), which in turn is modeled on the Swiss chalet. Skilled artisans from Zakopane create beautiful plates made from seasoned linden wood, employing centuries-old traditions and meticulous craftsmanship. The plates are entirely decorated by hand, using various combinations of carving, brass and copper inlays, burning, and staining techniques. Here you will find some very unusual traditional Polish plates, all one-of-a-kind.

Some other plates from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Romania and elsewhere can be found here as well.
