Bogolyubskaya Mother of God Brass Icon. The Bogolyubskaya icon came about after a miraculous vision the Mother of God sent to the holy righteous Prince Andrew Bogolyubsky in 1155. She is depicted standing with a scroll in Her left hand, and the right hand raised in prayer. The scroll would read: "Master merciful Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, incline thine ear unto me, for all pray for peace." The icon is also sometimes called Intercessionary.. The back of the icon depicts the Calvry cross and instruments of the passion outside the wall of Jerusalem. The scene is inside a cartouche with floral ornaments.
