Boyaryshnya (Боярышня) Russian Costume Doll. A Boyaryshnya was the unwed daughter of a Boyar, who, in turn, was a member of Old Russia's aristocracy and was next in rank to the ruling princes. This stunning 18" porcelain doll has a hand painted lifelike face. The hands and feet are also made of porcelain. She is adorned with an exquisitely detailed period costume made from satin, silk, lace and gold thread embroidery.A veil and pearls decorate her hat, which is typical of the time period.
