Cat Bank (Кэт Банк). A truly unique painted wooden bank from either Polkhovsky Maidan or Krutets (we lean towards the latter) circa mid or late 1980's, though it might be earlier. The head has a slot for coins and two holes where presumably ears might have been, or were intended to be. The piece does not open, thus encouraging lifetime saving. The bottom is free of labels. Hand painted details on a dark wood background. As we said at the outset, this one's definitely unusual. 5½" in height. 1 only.
