Chaika GAZ-13 (Чайка ГАЗ-13). The Chaika (Seagull) was an elite car for use only by Communist party officials. Made in the Gorky Auto Plant, the design of the car, which was the plant's flagship, was influenced by US automakers. It was fitted with an 8-cylinder, 195 hp V-engine, a quad carburetor, a steering booster and hydro shift transmission. The car featured a push-button speed selector and a power antenna. The body accessories included: electric windows, windshield washer, a multi-range radio, and fog lamps. The GAZ-13 was awarded the Grand Prix at the World Auto Show in Brussels in 1958.
This 1:43 scale model car was made in the USSR in the 1980's and comes in a decorative box printed mostly in Russian. Car is 5" in length. Plastic "window of the box is cracked, box has light wear, toy is fine. 1 only.
