The icon of "Christ the Teacher" is a variant of the Pantocrator image. Christ is bearded, His brown hair centrally parted, and His head is surrounded by a halo. One hand blesses while the other hand holds the New Testament open to the passage from Matthew "Come to me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The inscriptions in Slavonic are: "Mother of God", "Most Blessed Holy Mother of God of Kazan", "Jesus Christ" and "He Who Is" around the halo.
These beautiful chromo-lithographic icons were specially printed on gold and silver foil, mounted on wood and then edged with bright gold trim. They are housed in a burgundy velvet case. Made in Russia. 6" x 5" when closed.
