First Hen Fabergé Egg. The original Fabergé egg, though in a different color, was made for Tsar Alexander III and given to his wife Maria Feodorovna in 1885. It was the very first in a series of Imperial Faberge eggs. Like the original, this one opens to reveal another egg, which itself holds an enamel hen of vibrant colors. The enamel is high quality and the piece is decorated with Austrian crystals. Approximately 3½" in height on a gold plated stand that elevates it to 5". An impressive piece!
