Grandfather Frost (Дед Мороз). A richly decorated Grandfather Frost matryoshka doll holds a regal staff signifying his lordship of Christmas. Finely enhanced using "Potal" (Поталь), which is a form of gold foil decoration (the foil is called Potal) that imitates gilding. Traditionally recursive, the dolls are decorated with bright gold in high relief throughout each piece. His fur is white trimmed with blue, the gift bag is blue and his mittens are green. The faces are expressive with blue eyes. Signed by the artist, made near Moscow in Sergiev Posad. 5 nest, 4¼" to 1¼". 1 only.
