Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, his wife Tsarina Alexandra, and their five children Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei are Saints and New Martyrs of the Orthodox Church (also Passion Bearers). The site of their execution is now beneath the altar of the Church on Blood in Honour of All Saints Resplendent in the Russian Land in Yekaterinburg. The year 2018 marks the centennial of the tragic event. The family was canonized in 1981 as New Martyrs by the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad (ROCOR). The Moscow Patriarchate, in 2000, canonized the family as Passion Bearers, those who face death in a Christ-like manner. This is distinct from Martyrs, who are killed explicitly for their faith. Despite being Passion Bearers", the Royal Family members are most often referred to as Martyrs in Church publication and icons. The 17th of July (July 4 in the Old Calendar) is the feast day of Holy Martyr Tsar Nicholas II and his family.

This is a hand painted icon of Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarevich Alexei Nikolaevich, Tsarina Alexandra Feodorovna, Grand Duchesses: Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia. Each is depicted solemnly holding a Russian Orthodox cross. 5"x 7¼".

Hand painted in Russia. The quality is exquisite and we have only one.
