Kirov Straw Maiden Roly Poly Chime Doll. Let's get the flaw out of the way right away. We seldom, if ever, list dolls with cracks, but this one is too unusual to pass up. (You can see the crack in the last picture.) A lot of work went into this, probably early 1980's Kirov chime doll with straw inlay. It also opens up very easily (be careful when picking it up) but still makes a sweet ringing bell sound. Again, this doll is very unusual in our experience. In good collectible condition with some signs of past play. Glossy finish. Some wear to a bit of the straw. 4½" in height. 1 only, as pictured.
The Russian traditional roly poly toy has many different names, including "nevalyashka"(неваляшка), "vanka-vstanka" (ванька-встанька) and roly-poly chime doll. Due to the weight in the bottom half, the doll will sway and return upright, as well as give a pleasant bell sound.
