Product Description
Konyok Gorbunok (Конёк горбунок). Also known as The Little Humpbacked Horse, the art comes from the rhyming fairy by Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov (Пётр Павлович Ершов ) (1815-1869). The allegorical story emphasizes trust and friendship. The magical horse accompanies the happy-go-lucky peasant boy Ivanushka throughout many adventures and ultimately helps him to win the hand of the princess in marriage. In the original story, the little horse was originally 3" tall (in the style of Tom Thumb). The tale was a great favorite of Nicholas II, the Last Tsar of Russia (1868-1918), which he would read to his children before bedtime.
