Lel the Shepherd Boy (Лель пастушок). Lel reclines against a birch tree and plays angelic melodies. He is one of the main characters in the fairy tale The Snow Maiden. Other characters, besides Lel, include Tsar Berendey, Snegurochka's friend Coupova, daughter of a wealthy settler, Mizgir, a merchant from afar who rejects Coupova for Snegurochka, and her kindly parents Bobyl-Bakula and his wife Maria, who adopt Snegurochka.
This is an uncommon embossed aluminum plaque from 1970 or 1980. The boy and tree are set off against a jet black background. In about fine condition with some light scuffs not easily visible. Two small holes for hanging at the top. Approximately 5" x 6". 1 only.
