Leopold the Cat (Кот Леопольд). Tver Figure. Handmade folk toy using wood and paint. Figure is based on a Russian animated short film series about an amiable and prudent cat who always wears a bow tie. Leopold's catchphrase is "Kids, let's all get along" (Ребята, давайте жить дружно). The catchphrases of the two mischievous mice, Mitya and Motya, are "Come out, Leopold!" (Выходи, Леопольд!) and "Come out, you foul coward!" (Выходи, подлый трус!). The series ran from 1975 to 1987.
Made at the Tver Production Association of Art Products and Toys (Тверское производственное объединение художественных изделий и игрушек) in 1991. 4½" height, 3½" wide. 1 only.
