Конёк-Горбунок. The Little Humpbacked Horse, aka The Magic Pony, is a fairy tale in rhyme by Pyotr Pavlovich Yershov (Пётр Павлович Ершов - 1815-1869). The sculpture by Galina D. Chechulina based this composition on the moment when the peasant's son Ivanushka (the Fool) succeeds in capturing the magnificent flying mare with the golden mane that has been trampling the night wheat. As a result, the mare promises him a miniature magical horse, which becomes his best friend and faithful defender. An allegory of true friendship, the little horse was originally 3" tall!
