Table medal made to commemorate two events. On the obverse are St. Vladimir holding a cross and sword, and St. Daniel, holding a church (symbolic of the monastery he founded in 1282.) This side commemorates the christening of Russian in 988. The reverse side commemorates the original founding of the Danilov monastery, Свято-Данилов монастырь, in Moscow, and also dates the rebuilding and reestablishment of it: 1983-1988, during the era of glastnost and perestroika in the last years of the Soviet Union.
