Palekh Troika (Палехская Тройка). The famous sleigh or carriage that is pulled by three horses is both a symbol of old Russia and a symbol of contemporary Palekh. In the hands of an accomplished Palekh artist the horses are dynamically portrayed in all their mythological glory. While the theme is a timeless favorite of miniature painters, it still takes a really talented artist to produce quality paintings on an oval box.

He became a member of the Association of Palekh Artists that same year and worked at The Palekh Artistic and Industrial workshops at least until 2001, when this box was painted.
