Polkhovsky-Maidan or Krutets (Полховский-Майдан или Крутец). Vintage matryoshka from either Polkhovsky Maiden (the central village in the Voznesensk district) or the neighboring village of Krutets (Крутец). The Polkhovsky "family" of dolls exhibit original patterns and simple flowers and leaves. The faces are unassuming and naïve to point of childish simplicity. This is due to the lack of streamlined production, as each doll is made singularly and by hand. This set is from 1989 and the artist Yu. P. Pozhkov (Ю. П. Рожков) has added a paper label to the bottom of the first doll.4 nest, 6" tall. 1 only.
