Snowstorm (Метелица). This elegant Russian filigree basket was made by hand, not by a machine. It is an extraordinary example of filigree design and craftsmanship as was perfected back in the days of Catherine the Great (1762-1796). The pattern is reminiscent of bobbin-lace and is enhanced by tiny seed pearls. The piece has been siver plated, and then gold plated in 24Kt gold. Hand-crafted in the small village of Kazakavo, near Nihzny Novgorod (formerly the city of Gorky). 5¾" diameter and about 2½" deep. We have only one left. A beautiful compliment to our gold plated Russian Tea Glass Holders.
