"Mashenka" ((Машенька). A small version of Russia's most endearing nesting doll. Each successive doll is a smaller and smaller version of the predecessor, in this case a triple recursion. The fingers on doll 2 & 3 are omitted, indicating a turn to labor-saving steps by the factory. For those who appreciate an unusual Semenov matryoshka from a bygone era, this little doll fits the bill. Check out the strict faces! By the way, Mashenka (accent on "Ma") is the diminutive form of Mary. This Semenov doll was made in the early 1990's. No label. 2⅝" x 1¼". 1 only.
