Kubachi solid silver niello tea glass holder. USSR, first half of the 20th century. Silver, gilding, chasing. Soviet-era 875 silver mark together with other hallmarks. This unusual holder was a presentation piece to "Gergy Lazarevich" from the "Коллектив ЦСК" (Центр студенческой культуры, or Center for Student Culture) in 1960. The village of Kubachi in Dagestan is a traditional production center of silver-work, including tea glass holders and jewelry, as well as other materials such as stone and wood.
