It continues to thrive and develop as a modern art form. Decorative painting was common in many parts of Ukraine, especially in Podillia (Ternopil) region, Kyiv region, Slobozhanshchyna, Bukovyna, but it was the most widespread in the Petrykivka village. The distinctive features of this folk art style are its flower pattern and distinctive brush techniques. It can be simple folk art or can be very elaborate.
