Holy Great Martyr and Trophy Bearer, St. George. Roman emperor Diocletian persecuted the Christians. George, a Roman commander, was ordered to take part, but he refused and confessed his Christian faith. Tortures failed to make him denounce his faith. Instead, many who witnessed his confession were converted, including Diocletian’s wife Empress Alexandria. George was beheaded in 303 A.D. This is an icon by Evgenia Diachenko. 16x20 inches. Canvas on birch wood. Only 1 available.
Born and raised in the Orthodox faith, Evgenia paints with vibrant acrylics and applies 24kt gold leaf.
