Swan Princess (Царевна Лебедь). Alexandra Yurievna Lyakh (Ovcharenko) (Александра Юрьевна Лях (Овчаренко)) was born in Yuzha, in the Ivanovo region. She studied at the Palekh Art College from 1974-1979 and worked in the Palekh Art and Production Workshops from 1979-1991. She also worked as a graphics designer and teacher at the School of Arts in the Far East (1984-1989) at the Palekh branch of the Ivanovo Art School, and at the Palekh Children's School (1999). She is married to the Palekh artist Sergey Alekseevich Lyakh (1950-).
The Prince meets the enchanted swan upon the dancing waters as transforms into a lovely Princess. Thus begin a series of adventures that culminate in their wedding. Illustration is based on a scene from the classic fairy tale by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin (1799-1837).
Papier-mache, egg tempera paints, lacquer. Detailed decorative freehand scroll border in gold. Signed by the artist in gold. Approximately 2" x 1¼" x 1". 1 only, as shown.
