The Golden Fish (Сказка о золотой рыбке). Gzhel Porcelain, 1960s (Гжельский фарфор - Художественная керамика). A much beloved sculpture that was designed by L. P. Azarova in the early 1950s. It shows the meeting of the old man with the goldfish that will eventually transform his world. The fish is depicted rising from out of the sea. Next to the old man is the broken washboard with which the story begins. The tale was base on the poetry of Alexander Pushkin, Russia's greatest poet.
