The Little Humpbacked Horse (Конёк горбунок). Beautiful egg tempera paintings by talented miniature artists from long ago! Why decorated with mass-produced porcelain plates when you can display these genuine hand painted plates. We have just a handful.
The art for this plate is based on the fairy tale The Little Humpbacked Horse by Pyotr Yershov. The little magic horse accompanies the happy-go-lucky peasant boy Ivan through many wonderful adventures and ultimately helps him to win the hand of the princess in marriage. This fairy tale was a great favorite of Nicholas II, the Last Tsar of Russia, which he would read it to his children before bedtime. Signed by the artist: A. Khainakov. Enhanced with gold border ornamentation as well as throughout the painting. From the late 1970s. In excellent condition. 9½" in diameter. 1 only, as shown.
A unique gift for Russian lacquer collectors! Display by itself or in a group.
