Russian artist, Mikhail V. Nesterov was an associate of the Peredvizhniki, and an early exponent of the Symbolist movement of the late 19th century. The Murdered Prince Dmitry  was a big success working with religious subjects. He was not permitted to use religious themes under the Soviet regime turning instead to portraits of notable figures. This magnificent replica is skillfully hand painted in Russia, by Igor V. Shepel. Mounted within a simple wooden frame. About 9" x 11" overall size.
