Ukrainian Maidens Nesting Doll (Український Дев Матрьошка). Before the breakup of the Soviet Union, Ukraine had a small, but energetic production center for dolls with traditional Ukrainian colors and design motifs. These dolls were not produced in great quantities and were marketed through smaller export channels, such as Ukrainian import shops in the US and Canada. This set of maiden dolls was made in the latter half of the 20th century and still has the "Made in USSR" sticker on the bottom. The wood is slightly different - a bit thicker than that used by Russian doll makers. Near fine used condition. 3 nest, 3¼" in height. 1 only.
