Ukrainian Cossack Family. The head of the household has the stereotypical cossack haircut that features a long lock of hair left on the otherwise completely shaved head. He carries a bowl of freshly made pelmeni (dumplings) and tucked under one arm is a bottle of wine. His wife, dressed in shades of blue, holds a rolling pin. The grandfather plays a "sopilka", a type of flute. His wife carries a brown jug, the boy plays a "bandura" - string instrument, the girl has a bowl of berries, another little boy carries an apple or pear, another little girl has a spray of blue flowers, and the final two bring up the rear. An elaborate matryoshka with vivid colors and artistic execution.
