Zagorsk Green Roly Poly Chime Doll

Zagorsk Maiden Green Roly Poly Chime Doll. The Russian traditional roly poly toy has many different names, including "nevalyashka"(неваляшка), "vanka-vstanka" (ванька-встанька) and roly-poly chime doll. Due to the weight in the bottom half, the doll will sway and return upright, as well as give a pleasant bell sound. Hand made and hand painted in old Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad) in the 1970's or 1980's. Very unusual in our experience. In very good condition with some scrapes and scuffs on the front and side indicative of past play. Some of the paint has chipped on the top of the head and it also has a closed crack at the bottom probably when it was dropped. This crack seems benign and doesn't look to have enlarged over time. Has a very pleasant chime sound. Glossy finish. 6" in height. 1 only, as pictured.
