Zagorsk Maiden Red Roly Poly Chime Doll. The Russian traditional roly poly toy has many different names, including "nevalyashka"(неваляшка), "vanka-vstanka" (ванька-встанька) and roly-poly chime doll. Due to the weight in the bottom half, the doll will sway and return upright, as well as give a pleasant bell sound. Hand made and hand painted in old Zagorsk (Sergiev Posad) in the 1970's or 1980's. Very unusual in our experience. In very good condition with some scrapes and scuffs on the front and side indicative of past play. Has a very pleasant chime sound. Glossy finish. 6" in height. 1 only, as pictured.
