Product Description
Ruslan and Ludmila is based on original art by Gero Trauth. It is the 5th plate from the first series of six plates titled Magical Fairy Tales From Old Russia (Edition 2) and was issued in 1988 by Heinrich Porzellan, a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach, Germany.
Plate is in new condition but no box or COA. It does have a hanger to attach to the wall. 8½" (21 cm) in diameter. 1 only.
Note: it appears that "Rusean" on the plate is a mispelling of "Ruslan". But, perhaps not. The scene is Ludmila in the garden of the wizard, Chernomor.
Born in Silesia (Poland) in 1942, Gero Trauth studied Arts, Graphics and Design at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. From 1984-1997 he maintained a successful partnership with Villeroy&Boch/Heinrich–Porzellan in Selb. He has a wonderful sense of style and color and the black background of each plate makes the artwork stand out. Trauth has his own website and a Wikipedia page as well.
