Magical Fairy Tales From Old Russia

Magical Fairy Tales From Old Russia are based on the original art of Gero Trauth. The first series of six plates was issued in 1986-1987 by Heinrich Porzellan, a subsidiary of Villeroy & Boch in Mettlach, Germany. A second series of six plates were issued in 1988. World wide production was limited to 19,900.

Gero Trauth (b. 1942 in Silesia, Poland) is a German painter, graphic artist, porcelain illustrator and designer. He studied Arts, Graphics and Design at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany. From 1984-1997 he maintained a successful partnership with Villeroy&Boch/Heinrich–Porzellan in Selb. He has exclusive table settings and dinnerware for Paloma Picasso and other exclusive objet d’art. Trauth has a wonderful sense of style and color and the black background of each plate makes the artwork jump out. He has his own website and a Wikipedia page as well.
