Cat and Kittens Vintage Counting Toy. Green-eyed cat with a polka-dot ribbon necktie opens to reveal three tiny kittens. Made in Sergiev Posad or, more likely, Polkh Maidan. These types of novelties came out about 20 years ago, and currently are scarce due to the conflict in Ukraine. Somewhat based on the concept of the 10-piece counting sets from Semenov, these tiny dolls are toys that can introduce children to the world of counting. However due to the small size of the dolls, parental supervision is required until the age of 3.
Fully hand made with detailed painting. Mother is 3½ in height, while kittens are ¾". It is in excellent condition (some of the photos show "hot spots" from the camera). 1 only, as shown.
