Maiden from Tver Carrying Buckets of Water. An elegantly dressed young girl carries two buckets of water using a bowed yoke. The piece is hand made from wood, fully painted and lacquered. The yoke is removeable and the buckets are as well. The artist's initials and a dedication to a young girl is written in Russian inside the bottom of the piece. Lots of fine detail in this uncommon example of Tver folk art. 8¼" in height, 1 only.
Located north of Moscow, Tver, a town north of Moscow, was formerly the capital of a powerful medieval state. The Volga River flows through it.
