Product Description
"Assumption Cathedral (Успенский собор) of the Virgin Mary". The cathedral is part of the architectural ensemble of an older monastery. It is on the banks of the Sukhona River, close to the town of Veliky Ustyug.
The painting is on a hinged pine box covered with thin celluloid panels to resemble brown marble. The effect is quite striking - the ensemble is painted as if reflected in the river (a nice touch!) Made at the "Экспериментальная Фабрика Художественных Изделий Великоустюгские Узоры" ("Experimental Factory of Art Products Veliky Ustyug Patterns"). Circa 1984-1988. 6¼"x3¾"x1⅝". 1 only, as shown.
