Product Description
Decorative Painted Box "Veliky Ustyug". The church of the Ascension of Our Lord in Velikii Ustyug was built from stone in 1648, replacing earlier wooden structures. It is the oldest surviving building in the town.
The painting is on a hinged pine box covered with thin celluloid panels to resemble red marble. The effect is quite striking. Made at the "Экспериментальная Фабрика Художественных Изделий Великоустюгские Узоры" ("Experimental Factory of Art Products Veliky Ustyug Patterns"). Circa 1984-1988. Makes a unique gift! 4¾"x 3½"x2". 1 only, as shown.
Note: Paper label is missing but one similar that would have been affixed shown at the end of the picture sequence.
