Product Description
Mother of God "Deliverer" (Матерь Божья Избавительница). This icon, of relatively recent origin, was brought to the New Athos Monastery of Simon the Canaanite in the Caucasus and was was kept on Mount Athos by Schemamonk Martinian, a monk of the Russian St. Panteleimon Monastery, who received it from the great ascetic, Hieromonk Theodul.
Inscription in Slavonic: ΜΡ ΘΥ (Mother of God), IC XC (Jesus Christ), and the full name of the icon spelled out "Образ Пресвятой Богородицы Избавительница" (The Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos the Deliverer).
