A painted matryoshka combines Christmas holiday painting with a nested mushroom that opens from the top and reveals four more inside! Paintings are of classic Russian lacquer box scenes. On the back is a series of churches and monastery paintings and snowflakes are painted on the tops. An uncommon twist on a classic. Signed by the artist (V. Smirnov). Made in Sergiev Posad, Russia. 5 nest, 5" to 1¼"". 1 only, as shown.
