  • The Church of St. John the Theologian ((церковь Иоанна Богослова на Ишне), built in 1687, is situated within a few miles of Great Rostov on the Ishnya River.  It is a filial church of the Avraamiev Pokrovsky Gorodetsky Monastery (Авраамиев Покровский Городецкий монастырь), built to mark the site where, in the 11th century, the monastery's founder, Venerable Monk Abraham of Galich, a disciple of Saint Sergius of Radonezh, had met St. John the Theologian. The church is an octagon with porches crowned by distinctive bochka roofs and a steepled bell tower set in front of the main building. It is the oldest wooden building in Yaroslavl Oblast.

  • The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Suzdal (Церковь Воскресения Христова в Суздале) is a wooden church built in 1776. Its construction and design is typical of Russian Orthodox wooden structures from that era, especially the framework of piled logs, an old method of protecting the walls from rain. Originally from the village of Potakino, Vladimir, it was rebuilt in Suzdal. Of special interest is the bell-tower, which is incorporated into the church itself.

  • The Church of the Epiphany (Церковь Богоявления) in Oshevensk, Kargopol (Ошевенск, Каргополь), is a 1787 wooden church in the Arkhangelsk region (Архангельская область), located in the Pogost hamlet near the Churyega River (Деревня Погост недалеко от реки Чурьега). Pogost is a name derived from a term for sacred ground that usually contained a cemetery and church.  The Epiphany church, together with its discrete bell tower, is a prime example of Russian Northern architecture, built from pine logs. It features an octagonal, tent-roofed design. The interior, which encompasses one of the largest such spaces among northern log churches, contains paintings, unique among the wooden churches of the far North.
