Product Description
Sudarushka from Semenov (Семеновская Девочка "Сударушка"). Sudarushka (accent on the "da") means "Sweetheart" in Russian. It also is the name of a lyrical Russian dance. The expressions date from before the "happy face" era of Semenov dolls began (a few years after the breakup of the USSR). Each doll has a long braid running down her back and colors are distinctively Semenov (yellow, red and black). The style is somewhat different from typical Semenov dolls and was made during the time the factory was trying to win a bigger Western market share. Thus, not many were made, and the bigger six nested ones were probably made in even fewer numbers.
6 nested doll, 5" down to about 1¼". Made in the late 1980s with the post Soviet orange export label on the bottom of the first doll. About fine. 1 only, as shown.
