Product Description
Circus Playset. Dolls from Nizhny Novgorod are uncommon, and this set was made there, and exported to the US in the early 1990s. The pieces all fit into the "big top". These include the ringmaster, the clown, the girl on the ball, the acrobats, and the bear, sea lion, and African lion. The magician is even more complex, and opens to reveal three small colored ball and a wand!. The words all around the tent are in Russian. These are: Хищники (predators, i.e., lions and tigers), Морские Львы (sea lions), Под Куполом (under the big top), Сегодня и Ежедневно (today and everyday), Магия (magic) and, of course, Цирк (Circus) in big letters.
The bottom of the doll is inscribed in pen: Вера Барабанова (Vera Barabanova), Н. Новгород (Nizhni Novgorod), Россия (Russia) and 1993. 5¾" in height and 4⅜" in diameter. 1 only. Uncommon. Excellent condition. Note: Nizhny Novgorod is north east of Polkhovsky Maidan.
Note: Faint white, cloudy areas in the photos are "hot spots" caused by studio lights reflected from off the shiny lacquer. The doll is fine.
