Conversation (Беседа). Stylized scene of a couple in Russian peasant costume sitting at the table having an animated discussion. Painted in Novgorod, which was producing a limited number of boxes and brooches for the 1980 Moscow Olympics. Or possibly Kholui or Mstera. The scene shows the influence of the "lubok" 17th century graphic style of illustration. Egg tempera, papier-mache, lacquer. Attached with classic safety pin embedded into the back. Signed by the artist: T. Nemtsova. Circa 1980. 2½" x 1¾". 1 only, as shown. Gift boxed.
