Volume 2 includes Gogol's Mirgorod stories: "The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich," "Old World Landowners," "Taras Bulba," "The Nose," "The Coach," "Viy", "The Portrait" (in its final version), and the most influential of his Petersburg stories, "The Overcoat."
